Fun first. Memorable always.
The best junior golfers don't play for the number on the card. They play because it's fun, because the day is worth remembering, and because they're chasing the things they can actually control. That's the value system we build into everything at JrCaddie.
The value we actually chase
A score is mostly out of a young player's control — the bounces, the wind, the lie. Stake a kid's worth on that and you get pressure and burnout. So we point them at what they can control.
Fun & Memorable
Joy is the soil everything grows in. When a round becomes a story worth keeping instead of a report card, the score matters less — and the kid keeps playing.
Process over Score
We celebrate the reps a player controls — routine, committing to a target, resetting after a mistake. A kid can shoot their worst score ever and still win their own scoreboard.
Distance from Expectations
By measuring process, not medals, we take the weight off the number. Lower scores follow as a byproduct — never as the thing a young golfer's worth rides on.
Parents: you're the caddie
The most important moment of a tournament day isn't a shot — it's the car ride home, and what you ask about first. Your kid is the golfer. You're the caddie: keep them calm, believe in them, and don't own the score.
Try this on the ride home:
- “What's a shot you're proud of — not for where it ended up, but for how you handled it?”
- “What made today memorable?”
- …and let the score come up on its own.
